Home overview
Home is the surface you land on when you open the app (the hash URL is
#home). It is your progress dashboard: a running read of where your voice
sits, how it has moved over time, and what to work on next. Unlike
Studio, which reads one recording in depth, Home
summarizes everything you have recorded and practiced.
Home is assembled from a set of blocks. Their order is a saved preference you can rearrange with the Customize button in the top bar (drag to reorder, hide, add, or swap panels; Reset / Cancel / Done). What follows is the default arrangement.
Hero
A greeting with today's date and a data-driven subline about your recent trend. On the right:
- Upload recordings — a file picker (multiple files at once; WAV, MP3, or AIFF) that sends each recording into analysis.
- Start practice — jumps to the Practice surface.
- Hear your progress — appears only once you have two analyzed sessions at least two weeks apart, and opens an A/B comparison.
First-run, the subline reads "Upload a recording or start practice to begin tracking your voice."
Standing · last 30 days
Three channel cells summarizing the last 30 days:
- Median pitch (Hz)
- Resonance · formant dispersion (Hz)
- Expressiveness (semitones)
Each cell shows a delta badge ("steady", or coloured up/down against your goal direction), a large value, a segmented band meter, and a target line ("Target 145–175 Hz · 8 Hz below target" or "in target"). Resonance is reported as formant dispersion in hertz — see Formants.
Progress chart
A line chart of one metric over time on a real time axis: an amber line for analyzed sessions and an azure dashed line for practice sessions, with your target band shaded. Toggle Pitch / Resonance to change the metric you are viewing, and 30d to zoom the window. (To change the default metric that loads, use Customize.)
In the installed app, when at least two saved analyses have compatible optional WeSpeaker embeddings, a Similarity toggle also appears. That view compares each take with your earliest compatible saved voice. Higher means more alike under the model; it has no target band and is not a gender score or identity check. Sessions without an embedding are simply omitted.
Before you have two plottable points it shows a prompt: "Two or more analyzed recordings (or practice sessions) will plot your … over time here."
Suggested focus
One sentence derived from your latest pitch versus your target band, plus a Practice this button into Practice.
Recordings
A single, time-ordered activity stream of your analyzed takes and your practice sessions:
- Analyzed recordings show a name, a Ready pill, date · duration · median pitch, a pitch-position strip, an Open in Studio link, and a hover-revealed delete.
- Practice takes show the exercise (or "Free practice"), a Practice pill, and percent-in-target.
- Clustered practice sessions collapse a day's takes of one exercise into one expandable row ("6 takes", median percent in target, and a "▲ 4% vs last time" delta).
The header shows how many uploads are still analyzing and a Gender coding · on/off mini-switch that overrides the display for this page (see Settings). The list caps at a handful of rows with a "Show all N recordings →" expander. A dropzone on the right accepts dropped audio, and a "Practice loop" card links into Practice.
When you have nothing yet, this reads "No recordings yet — upload one below, or save a practice session."
This month
Three stats — sessions, day streak, and practiced time — plus a gentle consistency row with one dot per day of the month (filled for the days you practiced). It is framed as encouragement, not a streak you can "break".
Installing Home as an app
The web app is an installable PWA. If your browser offers to install it, Home becomes a standalone app window, and — thanks to an offline app shell — a cold launch without a network shows the app rather than a browser error page.
- In the browser version, analysis also works without a network once the app has downloaded its analysis software.
- In the installed app, live analysis still needs the local server running.
See Storage and privacy for where each version stores your data.
